Killswitch Engage Share Lyric Video for “I Am Broken Too,” Proceeds Donated to Suicide Prevention
Killswitch Engage released their latest single “I Am Broken Too” at the stroke of midnight last night. The song tackles mental health issues, and vocalist Jesse Leach has said it’s one of the most important and dear to his heart he’s ever written.
Now there’s a lyric video for the song so you can follow along with Jesse’s message, at once heartbreaking and reaffirming. What’s more, the band is donating a portion of the proceeds earned on the track to Hope for the Day, a non-profit organization that focuses on suicide prevention by providing outreach and mental health education through the use of music and art, with which Jesse has been involved in the past.
Here are the lyrics, followed by the video underneath.
“You carry this weight trying to cover mistakes to make it seem like nothing could break you
“But I see right through cause I am am broken too in all the same places as you
If you needed proof I’ll reopen my wounds“I see myself in you
I know you can make it through“If you needed proof I’ll reopen my wounds in all the right places for you
So now you see the truth that you are broken too
I’ll reopen my wounds for you
I keep making the same mistakes just to feel alive again its the only way to break through
So stop numbing the pain because it wont go away if you only knew how much I needed you“And If you needed proof I’ll reopen my wounds in all the right places for you
I can see the truth because I am broken too
Broken just like you…”
Atonement, KSE’s first album for Metal Blade Records, will be out August 16, and will feature a guest appearance by Howard Jones, the group’s former frontman, and Testament’s Chuck Billy. You can pre-order the album here. Killswitch Engage are on tour with Clutch now; dates are here.
