Holy Crap, Metallica Are Earning SO MUCH MONEY On Their European Tour
Metallica’s 2017 North American tour, the first on their latest album Hardwired… To Self-Destruct, averaged ticket grosses of over $4 million per show, with their European average last year breaking a $2 million average inside arenas. They’re currently on tour in Europe again, this time in stadiums with much greater capacity than their last run, and… whew, Metallica are really fucking popular unless you somehow missed the memo. As usual, please note that Boxscore numbers are not a wholly accurate reflection of how much money artists take home. After the ticket numbers are in, the bands still need to pay the opening acts, cover their crew and travel expenses, share a cut with the promoter, pay their manager and booking agent, etc. On the other side of it, the numbers also don’t include any money earned from merch sales. But these reports do provide a general idea of the earning power of bands, especially relative to one another. And Metallica’s recent numbers are insanely impressive!
