The Original Misfits Added to 2019 Psycho Las Vegas Lineup
Psycho Las Vegas is only a month and a half away, but that hasn’t stopped the fest (which already had a killer lineup including Opeth, Electric Wizard and more) from adding even more talent at the eleventh hour: the Original Misfits, featuring both Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only, are now scheduled to perform. The band will presumably take the place of Megadeth, who had to cancel on account of Dave Mustaine’s recent throat cancer diagnosis.
For those keeping track, this will mark the eleventh reunion gig between Danzig and Only performing as “The Original Misfits.” A report filed for MetalSucks last month by D.X. Ferris revealed the details of a legal settlement between the two parties that called for at least ten such shows. Nine had taken place or were on the books when the article was published, with another gig added since that’s set to take place in Oakland, CA on September 11th.
Interestingly, the gig flyer names Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein as the guitarist for the Psycho date. His name has not been included on all of the reunion show flyers.
Danzig recently said “there’s not gonna be many more” of these shows, but it remains to be seen what that means. With the Misfits addition to Psycho Las Vegas at the last minute because of Megadeth’s cancelation an outlier of sorts (I’m sure the festival threw tons of money at them!), I won’t be surprised if the tally stops at 11… but we shall see.
