Gary Holt Says the New Exodus Album Will Be Slow, Wimpy
During a recent interview with Metal Casino, Slexoder guitarist Gary Holt was asked about the next Exodus album. And very much to everyone’s surprise, Holt gave an unusual, well-thought-out description of the band’s new material, admitting that the record may not be what fans are expecting.
I’m kidding, he gave the most boilerplate answer that every metal musician always gives when asked about a new album:
“The new material is just savage. It should be illegal, it’s so heavy. It’s fucking criminal. Brutal — fast as fuck.”
Of course, no one expected Holt to be like, “It’s really slow and melodic and heavily influenced by the music of Ian & Sylvia.” It would have been funny if he had done that, but no one expected him to.
As to when Exodus’ “savage” new album will be out, well, Holt doesn’t know! “It’s been four years, [since the release of the band’s last album, Blood In, Blood Out], and if it takes two more, we’re gonna spend the time and do it right.”
So there’s the scoop, folks: the new Exodus album will be heavy and done right. Oh boy.
