Barry Star to Play the Bad Guy in Bill & Ted Face the Music
Anthony Carrigan has been cast as “the duo’s relentless adversary” in Bill & Ted Face the Music, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The actor is best known to audiences from the role of ‘NoHo Hank’ on HBO’s Barry, which I somehow have still not watched. I did seem play Victor Zsasz on Gotham a few times, though. It was hard to judge his performance, though. That show stank like the inside of a Slipknot mask after a show.
ANYWAY, that is literally all we know about the character at this point — that he’s the villain. Of course, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure has antagonists, like the dudes’ dads, but it has no villain per se — no one is actively trying to stop our heroes from completing their mission. In Bogus Journey, though, the entire story is set into motion by the evil De Nomolos, who was played by Joss Ackland, one of the great bad guy character actors of the 80s and 90s (he was also the heavy in Lethal Weapon 2 and Nowhere to Run). What little we know about Carrigan’s role suggests they’re going more the Bogus Journey route here.
Rapper Kid Cudi joined the cast last week in a mystery role. William Sadler returns, reprising his role as Death from Bill & Ted’s Bogus and Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine as Bill and Ted’s daughters, Billie and Thea, which appears to be excellent casting.
Interestingly, there’s been no casting news regarding the roles of the Princesses, who, we can assume, are Billie and Thea’s mothers. Those parts were previously played by different actresses in each of the other movies.
Filming on Bill & Ted Face the Music is underway now. The movie is being directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) and will be released August 21, 2020.
