Slipknot Make Whiskey Now
Slipknot are getting into the booze biz.
The band has announced that they’re teaming up with the Iowa-based Cedar Ridge Distillery to make No. 9 Iowa Whiskey, which will be made available just in time for the August 9 release of the band’s new album, We Are Not Your Kind.
Says Clown of the whiskey in an uncharacteristically coherent comment:
“Slipknot and Cedar Ridge Distillery – two groups of people born and raised in Iowa, and committed to quality and hard work. We collaborated on No. 9 Whiskey, which in addition to Iowa corn, gets some extra spice from its rye content. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Live life, and always be safe.”
And while metal band-themed alcohol products are a dime a dozen these days, Forbes, of all publications, says No. 9 Iowa Whiskey is actually really good:
“It begins quite floral, with hints of honeysuckle and Lilly. Then, corn and caramel hit. On the palate, cornbread, jalapeño, apple butter and a hint of charred marshmallow. A lovely medium finish offers a hint of chocolate. This is very much a worthy everyday pour.”
So that sure does sound delicious!
You can head over to Forbes to read more about the whiskey, including a new interview with Clown himself.
No. 9 Iowa Whiskey and its companion, No. 9 Reserve Iowa Whiskey, will be available August 10th at select retailers in all fifty states and at the band’s headline Knotfest Roadshow North America tour (dates). It will also be available at select markets on the North American tour ahead of the August 10th official launch. The 90 proof No. 9 Iowa Whiskey will retail for forty bucks; the 99 Proof No. 9 Reserve Iowa Whiskey is seventy.
