What are Slipknot Teasing for 2020 in This Mysterious Ad?
According to my social network feeds from the past few days, this year’s Download Festival in the U.K. suffered some seriously gnarly weather resulting in a whole lot of wetness and a ton of mud. Playfully dubbed Drownload or Brownload by fans, it seems the weather didn’t do much to dampen the good times, thankfully. A friend of mine told me that Slipknot’s headline performance was absolutely phenomenal.
Out of the mudbath comes another exciting bit of news: nestled amongst all the other ads for upcoming tours and albums scattered throughout the festival site was a poster with Slipknot’s logo and the phrase “Live.2020,” and nothing more:
The poster has led fans to speculate on two possible outcomes:
1. A full U.K. tour in 2020. While the band is currently on the European festival circuit, only one date (Download, duh) is in the U.K.
2. A live DVD/album release. The way it’s worded — Live.2020 — seems very album-y.
It’s way too early to speculate with any degree of certainty, so we’ll just have to wait and see. For what it’s worth, with We Are Not Your Kind coming out in August, 2020 seems a bit early to me for a proper live release — this show’s just getting started!
Here’s some fan-filmed footage from the band’s performance at Rockfest in Finland:
