Volbeat’s “Last Day Under the Sun” Reminds Me Of… Something
Ever heard a piece of a song in your head, but you can’t quite identify it? It’s like forgetting a word or being able to see a face but not being able to recall that face’s name — it sucks. It’s like it’s on the tip of your tongue and… nope. Can’t place it. Goddamn it.
This has been my experience with “Last Day Under the Sun,” the new single from Volbeat. I feel like I have definitely heard that riff and chord progression in another song. I can hear parts of that song in my head! I know it’s different enough to be just a coincidence, not plagiarism. But I can’t figure out what the goddamn motherfucking song is, and it’s driving me nuts.
Check out the song via the below, Jakob Printzlau-directed video and drop me a line if you can tell me what song I’m thinking of. The video is kinda interesting, too — it’s about a magical wood hut that makes dreams come true. Or something.
Volbeat’s new album, Rewind, Replay, Rebound, comes out August 2, and can be pre-ordered here .
