Karl Logan (Ex-Manowar) Has Been Released from Jail for Child Pornography Charges
Former Manowar guitarist Karl Logan has been released from jail after a two-day stint following his court appearance on Tuesday, May 28th.
Logan was arrested last August on six counts related to possession of child pornography, released on $35,000 bail, and made his first court appearance Tuesday. The federal magistrate judge ordered Logan detained until his next hearing, which occurred yesterday, May 30th. Records on the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office website show that Logan was released at 3:20pm.
No further information is available about the nature of yesterday’s hearing or when Logan’s next scheduled appearance will be. As of earlier this week, he had not yet entered a plea. If convicted, Logan is facing serious time in federal prison.
The 54-year-old Logan was reportedly in possession of several videos which depicted girls as young as the age of four in a variety of sexual acts with unidentified men. He was charged with three counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Earlier this week, Logan’s attorney, Brad Smith, told WSOC-TV that the guitarist has been “extremely cooperative with the investigation,” while also suggesting Smith that “there could be an explanation” for Logan’s alleged crimes: “You oftentimes do see with those that do end up pleading, there’s a direct correlation to something that happened in their childhood.”
Since his arrest, Manowar have parted ways with Logan and replaced him with E.V. Martel, who used to play in a Manowar tribute band.
