Stream Zealot R.I.P.’s (Darkest Hour, Pig Destroyer) Full EP Now!
Back in April, we told you to stay tuned for upcoming music from Zealot R.I.P., the new, self-proclaimed “death punk” band featuring members of Darkest Hour and Pig Destroyer. A month later the EP’s release day has finally arrived, and it’s been premiered on Metal Injection.
If someone sat you down and told you to imagine what “death punk” sounds like, well, this three-song record would be it. The six and a half minute EP is a fest of discordant drums and corrosive riffs smashing behind wailing punk vocals that are sure to make you want to smash things up Hulk-style. Although the tracks have notable influences from the band members’ past work, such as Mike Schleibaum’s melodic metalcore riffage in Darkest Hour, the styles on this record are strikingly raw and inch away from that melodic tone, taking on a more caustic nature. Zealot R.I.P. comes off as a passion project that allows the band members to experiment with different styles and take their creativity to new places.
The self-titled EP is out via Three One G Records and can be ordered here, with a limited edition 12″ vinyl available. If you feel like smashing things, listen to the EP in its entirety below.
