Mastodon’s Troy Sanders Joins Thin Lizzy for European Festival Shows

Whatever is passing for Thin Lizzy these days has added Mastodon’s Troy Sanders to their ranks. Sanders will play with the band at all of the European festival shows this summer. The gigs are meant “to commemorate 50 years since the formation of the original band and 40 years since the release of the seminal Black Rose album,” according to the band, although none of its current members were there for its formation, and only one, Scott Gorham, appears on Black Rose.

But hey! Troy Sanders! Mastodon! Whoo-hoo!!!

Says Mr. Sanders of his new job:

“It’s no secret that Thin Lizzy has had a big influence on Mastodon’s music. Being asked to join them on stage is a big deal and true honor to me. I am really looking forward to it!”
