New “Death Punk” Band Zealot R.I.P. Features Members of Pig Destroyer and Darkest Hour
Those of you following Pig Destroyer’s recent announcement of two shows in Baltimore this coming September may’ve noticed an unfamiliar support band listed on the poster: Zealot R.I.P.
While the band name might not ring any bells, some of its members’ names most certainly will. Here’s the lineup:
Blake Harrison (vocals, Pig Destroyer)
Mike Schleibaum (guitars, Darkest Hour)
Jason Hamacher (drums, Frodus, Decahedron)
Peter Tsouras (guitar, Olympia, Fairweather)
In a series of posts on their newly minted Instagram account, Zealot R.I.P. describe themselves as “death punk.” Sounds about right given the cast of characters involved, eh? One Instagram post teases May 20th as a date of note… my guess would be that’s the day we’ll hear some music from the new outfit. There’s not much else to go on, but I’m certainly intrigued.
Catch Zealot R.I.P. opening for Pig Destroyer on September 14th at Baltimore’s Metro Gallery. Perhaps a gig or two will be added before then, too, and if we’re lucky maybe some music as well; stay tuned!
