Vomit Angel: Intriguing
There are certain expectations one might have about a band called Vomit Angel, especially when their press release reveals that the group’s members go by names like “Necrodevil” and “Lord Titan” and have been in multiple projects that utilized the “sado” prefix:
“Vomit Angel was formed in 2014 as a solo-project by Necrodevil (ex-Sadomator / Sadogoat). The plan was to do some bestial black/death metal in the vein of Sadomator since that band was more or less defunct by that point. In 2015, Lord Titan (ex-Sadogoat) took up drumming again after a 13-year hiatus and joined Necrodevil for a one-off gig with Sadogoat, to celebrate the anniversary of Ancient Darkness Records. Things went so well that Necrodevil and Lord Titan decided to work together again, and so Lord Titan joined Vomit Angel.”
Now here’s the thing: having read all of that, is Vomit Angel’s promo photo completely unexpected, or just, mwah!, exactly what you’d imagine?
It’s the dog that really gets me, guys.
Vomit Angel’s debut album, Imprint of Extinction, comes out July 19 on Iron Bonehead. Below, you can listen to a song the band wrote about themselves. It mostly sounds like the garage death metal stuff you’d probably anticipate, but it also has cowbell, which was an interesting choice. Elsewhere on the album, there’s a track called, simply, “Vomits.” There’s also also a track called “Petard,” as in “hoist with his own.” This band just gets keep getting curiouser and curiouser.
