Cue the Apocalypse: Crazy Town Announce The Gift Of Game 20th Anniversary Tour

0

If the phrase “Isn’t Shifty Shellshock dead?” came to mind after seeing the above headline, you’re not alone. I looked it up, and no, he’s not dead, although “alive and well” might not quite apply: a 2012 coma landed him in the hospital, and the frontman — Seth Binzer, as his mama named him — has spent numerous stints in rehab for drug addiction over the years.

Still, once a hit always a career, or so the saying goes (something like that, anyway): Crazy Town have announced a 20th anniversary tour of their 1999 The Gift of Game,  which spawned the hit “Butterfly” and went on to sell 1.5 million copies. This version of Crazy Town goes by the moniker Crazy Town X, rechristened as such by Shifty after founding member Bret “Epic” Mazur left the band in 2017. The current lineup is rounded out by newer additions you’ve likely never heard of.

Still, I imagine the 35-40 year-olds that’ll be attending these shows won’t mind very much, as the tribal tattoo conventions that will take place each night will surely feel like bathing in a warm bath of nostalgia.

When this band was popping off in 2001 we made fun of them relentlessly and never imagined they’d still have a career nearly 20 years later, let alone be riding a nostalgia-induced wave. Just goes to show that everything comes back into style eventually.

The tour is just 14 dates long and sticks to mostly smaller markets in the Northwest and Upper Midwest U.S.:
