Exclusive Premiere: Paladin Sign with Prosthetic Records, Debut First Single “Shoot for the Sun”
It’s officially spring, and soon we’ll have the weather to match. You know what that means: it’s time to let down your Druid hood, wash off your corpsepaint, grab a beer, go outside, and enjoy metal that’s actually fun again!
Which is why Paladin‘s arrival on the scene could not be better timed. Fronted by master songwriter and Arsis touring guitarist Taylor Washington, and rounded out by Alex Parra (guitar), Andy McGraw (bass), and Nathan McKinney (drums), the Atlanta band’s music is a high-flying blitz of rousing, Dickinsian vocals and speed metal most triumphant. They’ve signed with Prosthetic Records, who will release their highly impressive debut album, Ascension, on May 17. It’s the kind of record that will make you wanna windmill so hard you give Donald Trump cancer.
I mean, just look at that album art! It’s like someone took the very concept of ‘epic’ and tie-dyed it!
Says Parra of the band’s big news:
“We are very excited to announce our signing with Prosthetic Records, a label that truly believes in the potential of the band. We signed with them in the Fall of last year and they have been nothing but pleasant to work with. After some unforeseen delays completely beyond our control, we are finally ready to release our debut album, ‘Ascension,’ a 49 minute onslaught of blistering Power Thrash incorporating influences from 80’s Metal to Melodic Death Metal. The first single ‘Shoot for the Sun,’ is one of the more catchier songs off the record, also one of the more difficult songs to perform live! The music video for it was shot in the live room of Mastodon’s new recording studio.”
MetalSucks is thrilled to debut “Shoot for the Sun,” which you can check out via the below music video. Like we said, Ascension comes out May 17 on Prosthetic, and it is not to be missed. Pre-order it here!!! The band also has a buncha live dates coming up in the not-too-distant future (including a special release show on May 11!); get those at the bottom of this post!
