Tool Share 37-Minute Song “Sounds of Night Crickets”
As of nearly a month ago, mastering for the new Tool album was officially underway. A few days later, the band announced a couple weeks’ worth of U.S. tour dates stoking the flames of new Tool album mania. Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett then claimed to have inside knowledge of the album artwork process. Could it, would it, should it FINALLY be that new Tool music is here??
No. Not yet, anyway — the most recent update we’ve had from a band member regarding any kind of timeline saw Maynard suggesting the new album would be out “mid-summer” — but that hasn’t stopped the band from playing on the hysteria (as always), this time by getting in on the April Fools’ Day fun. At the stroke of midnight today, April 1st, the band took to Twitter to link to a 37-minute video which most fans naturally assumed was a new song… only to find out that the video, “Sounds of Night Crickets,” is literally 37 minutes of crickets chirping at night.
Oh, Tool. What will we do with you?
