Destrage Unveil Catchy, Aggressive New Song “The Chosen One”
Wily progressive metallers Destrage pulled a funny little stunt last week, releasing three trailer videos and asking fans to vote between potential albums titles presented in each with the promise that the chosen one would get the nod. Indeed, “The Chosen One” is both the name of the band’s new album and its debut single, which they announced this morning — see what they did there??
With their upcoming record’s title unveiled, the band is also letting fans stream its title track, and woof, this thing slaps. It’s classic Destrage: top-shelf musicianship without being dicks about it wrapped up in a concise song (under three-and-a-half-minutes) and a super-catchy chorus. I’ve always loved Paolo Colavolpe’s voice — so versatile, so multifaceted, so unique! — and “The Chosen One” is a perfect reminder of why, giving him the space to show off a wide range his vocal talents. If the rest of the band’s new album is like I will be a very happy person.
Check it out below. The Chosen One comes out on May 24th via Metal Blade; pre-order here.
