Blackened Melodeath Outfit Hath Make Promising Debut on New Track “Accursed”
There’s a lot of bands out there, sometimes an overwhelming amount, and my head spins knowing that I’m missing out on great music simply because I don’t have time to listen to it all. But if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to make time for Hath.
This four-piece band has partnered up with Invisible Oranges to release an exclusive new single, “Accursed,” off their upcoming full-length debut, Of Rot and Ruin. The production quality on this song masterfully guides you through all of its dynamic layers from the richly melodious and dulcet death metal riffs to the bold and distinguished drum patterns, ultimately delivering exactly what is needed at exactly the right time. The vocals are exultant and abrasive, coexisting harmoniously with the instruments and occasional use of clean vocals. Past the halfway point the song switches gears to an oasis of deathcore-inspired chuggy breakdowns and guitar squeals that flow seamlessly with the rest of the track. If this song was a girl, it’d be thicker than a bowl of oatmeal! Thank you, Hath, my loins have been reawakened.
It usually takes a couple of albums for bands to become fully cohesive and find their sound, but Hath have managed to nail it in one by sending us on an exploration of blackened melodic death metal. It’s still early in 2019, but I’m willing to bet the five dollars currently in my bank account that this band will blow up and trickle their way into a lot of year-end best-of lists.
Drop whatever you’re doing and give “Accursed” a listen down below. Of Rot and Ruin comes out via Willowtip Records on April 12 and you can pre-order it here.
