Truth Corroded Challenge Racist Politicians on New Single “Victims Left Lepers”
When someone says “Australia” I immediately think of what most Americans would: sharks, the city of Sydney, crazy animals that have no right existing, and cool accents. Australian death-thrashers Truth Corroded have released “Victims Left Lepers” from their upcoming album, Bloodlands, and they’re here to challenge our perception of the country.
The video for “Victims Left Lepers” begins with beautiful propaganda for the Australian tourism industry, only to quickly shift gears to depict the desperate plight of asylum seekers in offshore detention centers. The song challenges and ridicules Australia’s politicians that are adopting racist policies in pursuit of political gain. (Gee, why does that sound so familiar?) Although this song specifically calls out Australian politics, we can all stand to learn something from Truth Corroded, whose message implores us to stand strong against what is wrong and prevent the repetition of history, because nothing is more foolish that refusing to learn from past mistakes.
Politics aside, “Victims Left Lepers” was mixed by Chris “Zeuss” Harris (Hatebreed, Soulfuly, Overkill). Truth Corroded’s upcoming album features guest appearances by Stephen Carpenter of the Deftones, Terrance Hobbs of Suffocation, Mark Kloeppel of Misery Index, and ex-The Black Dahlia Murder guitarist Ryan Knight. With such notable names, I’m sure you can imagine just how thrash-y and “open up this damn pit”-worthy these songs are.
