Video Premiere: Continuum, “A History Denied”
Continuum will release their sophomore album Designed Obsolescence later this month, and if the album’s latest video “A History Denied” is any indication, the California tech-death bruisers haven’t let up on both the musical and lyrical themes that first gained the band attention surrounding their 2015 debut The Hypothesis.
The title of Continuum’s newest album plays into the idea of planned obsolescence, the practice of designing a product with an artificially short lifespan. As for how that fits into the video for “A History Denied,” you’ll need to watch to find out. But we’ll say this: the video’s storyline (it’s all scripted, no performance shots!) would work just as well as an episode of The Twilight Zone or Black Mirror. We’ll let the band take over from here:
“We knew we wanted to do something other than your typical band performance video and Marshall Wieczorek and Michelle Nisbet did a great job at writing and directing the plot driven video that is loosely based on the concept of our new album Designed Obsolescence. I feel like the vibe of mystery and intrigue go great with the song which has some new songwriting elements we’ve never used in Continuum before. Hopefully you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed shooting it.”
Designed Obsolescence comes out February 22 on Unique Leader; pre-order here (physical), here (digital) or here (EU/UK). The band has some upcoming West Coast U.S. dates with Alterbeast and Aethere, which you can find underneath the embed.
