This Is What Mötley Crüe Were Teasing for the Super Bowl: A Planters Peanuts Commercial
So it turns out that the big Super Bowl event Mötley Crüe were teasing earlier this month was not anything related to the forthcoming movie version of The Dirt, or the new music the band has written and recorded for that film. Rather, the Crüe were teasing… “Kickstart My Heart” being used in a Planters commercial starring Charlie Sheen and Alex Rodriguez.
Yeah, that was my reaction, too. This isn’t even the first time this song has been used in a Super Bowl commercial — the honor belongs to this 2012 spot for Kia.

The silver lining is that at least now the mystery of “Why did Mötley Crüe employ a peanut emoji in that tease?” is solved. I think most of us assumed it has some sexual subtext, like the eggplant emoji, because, well, it’s Mötley Crüe, and everything they do is somehow related to sex. But no. They were just being blunt and telling us “We are going to be in a peanut commercial.”
You can watch the ad below in advance of it airing this Sunday. Meanwhile, The Dirt comes out March 22 on Netflix. It was directed by Jeff Tremaine (Jackass) and stars Douglas Booth (Jupiter Ascending) as Nikki Sixx, rapper Machine Gun Kelly as Tommy Lee, Daniel Webber (The Punisher) as Neil, Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) as Mick Mars, and Tony Cavalero (School of Rock) as Ozzy Osbourne.
