Metallica’s James Hetfield Receives Rave Reviews for Acting Debut in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile — the Ted Bundy biopic that features the acting debut of Metallica’s James Hetfield — made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival over the weekend, and the reviews are now in.
So how did Mr. Hetfield do? Unfortunately, reviews from a handful of outlets don’t mention the Metallica frontman at all. These include Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, The Guardian, Vulture, /Film, IndieWire, Uproxx, and Cosmopolitan.
Luckily, those are all minor press entities of which few people have ever heard. The truly prestigious outlets, like JoBlo.com and Birth.Movies.Death., did devote space in their review to Hetfield’s performance, and they both agree: James Hetfield is DEFINITELY in this movie!
Writes Chris Bumbray at JoBlo.com…
“Even Metallica’s James Hetfield has a small role, with the band having long been associated with [director Joe] Berlinger’s work.”
…while Birth.Movies.Death.’s Evan Saathoff adds:
“James Hatfield [sic] shows up at one point.”
WOW! Pretty amazing. Could Hetfield be a serious contender at next year’s Oscars? It certainly sounds that way!
No word on when Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will be released, but you can enjoy the trailer below.
