Long Island University Uses Metal to Teach Philosophy
Who says metal isn’t educational?
A MetalSucks reader and student at Long Island University sent us the below photos of this semester’s syllabus for a philosophy course taught by one Professor Joseph Filonowicz.
The reason said LIU student thought we’d be interested to see it? The very first assignment asks the class to match faulty assertions with a counter-argument against those assertions. Check out the first faulty assertion:

Here are the potential counter-arguments against these assertions:
I’m guessing the second one — ‘FALSE ANALOGY’ — is the correct counter-argument to the assertion about metal, which (falsely) compares extreme music concerts to riots. But who the fuck ever knows with philosophy. Or college, for that matter.
