Devin Townsend Finishes Empath, Shares Album Cover
Last night I had a dream that I was interviewing Devin Townsend as part of an extended hangout sesh and walk through nature. I was using my phone to record the audio, but I kept having issues — the microphone would get covered up by an article of clothing, or would be facing the wrong way, or I’d drop the phone. I kept wanting to ask him about that $10 million symphony about penises and vaginas, but never got the chance. What does it all mean??
Probably nothing. But I did wake up to this article on Ghost Cult Mag aggregating some recent updates from Devin on social media to the tune of the following: his long-awaited new album Empath is finished and it’s coming to a set of speakers near you in March, as previously planned. He also revealed the title of his collaborative song with Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger — “Hear Me” — said there are ten additional demos that could end up as b-sides or bonus material, and shared the news that Anneke Van Giersbergen will make an appearance on the album. And he revealed what could be (although he didn’t explicitly state it, opting instead for a smiley face) the album cover:
So that’s all pretty neat. I expect we’ll get to hear our first taste of new music from Empath within the next two or three weeks if all goes according to plan. Stay tuned.
Release date is mid March. I will let you all know about pre order bundles as the release gets closer for those of you who are willing to support this. Thank you again. :)
