Corey Taylor May Record “a Dark Jazz Album” of Slipknot and Stone Sour Songs

I don’t think the idea of jazz versions of Slipknot and Stone Sour songs sounds very appealing. Of course, I’m not Corey Taylor, and Corey Taylor thinks it’s a good idea, so it probably is.

Said Mr. Taylor during a recent interview with RadioVegas.Rocks’ Chaotic Radio:

“I’ve actually been thinking about doing something like this, putting together a quartet or a quintet and doing a jazz album, like a dark jazz album and recording it live in a room.”

“It won’t sell shit. It would really just be for my own personal collection. I love jazz. A lot of people don’t realize that. I listen to a lot of 40s and 50s jazz.

“There’s this haunting stuff that Billie Holiday would do, the older stuff that Charlie Parker would do when he was really fucked up – that would be the stuff that I would be closer to.

“I’ve got jazzy versions of some of my own songs that I would love to try. Probably something like ‘Prosthetics’ I think would be really cool. And then ‘Bother.’ I’ve got a really cool jazzy version of ‘Bother’ that could be really cool.”

As to whether or not this project ever actually comes to fruition, who knows. But with two bands and I’ve lost count already of how many books and speaking tours, Taylor clearly is a dude who likes to keep busy. So it could happen, someday…
