Medical Crowdfunding Campaign for Drummer Ben Koller (Converge, Mutoid Man, etc.) Hits $30,000

0

Earlier this month, revered drummer Ben Koller (Converge, Mutoid Man, All Pigs Must Die), broke his elbow in “a freak accident” which “required immediate surgery with an extended recovery period before he’s able to start physical therapy, and ultimately a long road before he is able to be behind the kit again.” Drummer Chris Maggio (Wear Your Wounds, ex-Trap Them, etc.) will fill in on Mutoid Man’s upcoming European/UK tour with Mastodon and Kvelertak while Koller heals up.

Meanwhile, a crowdfunding campaign to help cover Koller’s medical expenses has just passed $30,000 in donations, exceeding its goal of $25,000. Ben is a much-loved fella!

Koller himself issued an update via Instagram expressing his gratitude while sharing an x-ray of his surgically repaired elbow and vowing that he’d find a way to play drums on Converge’s scheduled February tour of Japan:

“Had my first post op appointment yesterday and the Robocop arm is looking good. I can’t express in words how moving it is to have so much support from family, friends and fans. What happened is my worst nightmare and I now officially know where my pain threshold is. I plan on crushing physical therapy when I get my staples out next week and the plan is to be able to still go to Japan with @converge in February. It’s hard to imagine that right now but I plan on doing everything in my power to get this thing back to 100% as soon as possible. Once again I’m forever indebted to anyone that has donated to the gofundme, especially @yivvyjukes @stephenbrodsky and @sargenthouse for setting it up. Link is in my bio. Does anyone want to see the staples or is that too gross? It looks insane. Love you guys ❤️????❤️????”

Koller still hasn’t publicly revealed just how he broke his elbow, which is odd… but whatever, I guess. Get well soon, Ben!
