Fred Armisen is an Abysmal Dawn Fan

Here’s a fun, feel-good story for you as we wind down towards the holidays: Abysmal Dawn can now count comedian Fred Armisen as one of their fans!

The story, as relayed by Metal Injection, found Armisen curiously eyeing the band’s instruments while boarding a flight from L.A. to Santiago, Chile, where the band was scheduled to perform at a festival. Armisen, who was en route to Santiago to film his upcoming Spanish-language HBO series, Los Espookys, struck up a conversation, the two parties exchanged contact info, and long story short, Armisen showed up to the band’s gig and watched their set from the side of the stage, later telling the band he loved it.

Armisen, of course, is himself a musician; he released a Netflix comedy special about drumming earlier this year and has had a number of rock star cameos on Portlandia, including Glenn Danzig. In another random coincidence, Abysmal Dawn drummer James Coppolino plays in the drum line featured in the “Dream of the ’90s” song from the show, which you can watch below.
