Check Out Deadland Ritual, Geezer Butler’s New Supergroup
If you’re worried that a post-Black Sabbath Geezer Butler has nothing to do with his time besides get into bar fights, fret not. Butler has launched a new band, Deadland Ritual, with some other heavy hitters — specifically, guitarist Steve Stevens (Billy Idol, Vince Neil), drummer Matt Sorum (Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver) and vocalist Franky Perez (Apocalyptica, Scars on Broadway).
That might not sound like the sexiest supergroup, I grant you, but the quartet’s debut single, “Down in Flames,” is a moody hard rock song that’s actually quite catchy. Which I don’t think should be too surprising — Butler and Stevens can probably write this kind of song in their sleep.
Check out “Down in Flames” below. Although there’s no word on when Deadland Ritual’s debut release will be, uh, released, Metal Injection tells me that they’ll perform at the Download Festival on June 14 and Hellfest Open Air on June 22, playing a mix of covers of originals.
