Coming in 2019: A New Album from Guns N’ Roses… Bassist Duff McKagan
In 2019, after years of waiting, fans will finally get what they’ve been craving for so very long: a new album from Guns N’ Roses… bassist Duff McKagan.
The album is being produced by Shooter Jennings, who I know is famous for reasons besides being the son of Waylon Jennings and the ex of that lady from The Sopranos, but I’m not sure what those reasons are.
The album will not feature Axl Rose, Slash, or any other members of Guns N’ Roses. Additionally, a press release makes no mention of Duff McKagan’s Loaded Featuring Duff McKagan, so presumably no members of that band will appear on the record, either, save, of course, for Duff McKagan.
In a statement that borders on Clown-speak, McKagan reveals that the release will ostensibly be Hot Takes: The Album:
“[A]n unseen and irrepressible force guided me to write little vignettes of reflective prose…little instant-reactions.
“The heartbreak, anger, fear, confusion and divide I have experienced over the last two and a half years of traveling this globe of ours coerced these words into songs that tell my truth, and one that I hope will spread and help us all. I do this for my daughters…I do this for my love of where I grew up… I do this, because I truly feel it must be done and said right now.”
Adds Jennings:
“From the first night we sat together at my piano hashing out arrangements of his songs, before going into the studio to record them, I felt it was a really important record that had to be heard. The songs have so much heart and are so musical that I could just hear all the arrangements immediately and I could really feel them.”
Adds Axl Rose:
“Fuck are you calling me for? I have nothing to do with this.”
Watch this space for what is surely the most anticipated original GN’R member’s solo album of 2019!
