Astronoid Post New Single “I Dream in Lines,” New Album Coming in February
Before Astronoid released Air in 2016, very few people were paying close attention (congrats if you were: you’re a super-cool tastemaker! perhaps you should start a career in influencer marketing). What happened next, of course, is that the album captured the imagination of the heavy music world and beyond with its unique blend of metal, shoegaze and atmospherics, propelling the band onto several year-end lists, landing them support slots on tours with Ghost, TesseracT, Animals as Leaders, Periphery and Zeal & Ardor and lifting their profile considerably to the point where Astronoid are officially A Big Band now.
All that is a long-winded way of saying that this time around people will very much be paying attention. Are Astronoid up for the challenge?
The band just announced that their next album will be self-titled and they’ve released its very first single, “I Dream in Lines.” Self-titling an album is a bold move, no doubt an indication that the band views it as both a metamorphosis and definitive statement of who they are at the moment. Guitarist/vocalist Brett Boland echoes that sentiment in a statement accompanying the single’s release:
“After the completion of our sophomore album, we feel we have ventured further out of our comfort zone and created something special. The album encapsulates all the changes in our lives over the past couple of years. Astronoid is a testament to who we are as people, the music that consumes us, and the love in our lives. These songs hold a special place in our hearts and we hope that others can find the same solace in them that we have.”
Astronoid will come out on February 1st via Blood Music; pre-order it here.
