Police are Investigating the Death of All That Remains Guitarist Oli Herbert

Four weeks after the death of All That Remains guitarist Oli Herbert at just 44 years old, The Hartford Courant is reporting that police are investigating the death as “suspicious.” Oli was found dead in a pond that abuts his Connecticut property.

The Eastern District Major Crime Squad is investigating the case, constructing a timeline of Herbert’s final 24 hours and speaking with people who had been in touch with him during and immediately before that period.

While the state medical examiner’s office ruled earlier this week that Herbert had drowned, it listed the manner of death as “undetermined.” The manner of death is typically listed as homicide, suicide or accident. Connecticut Chief Medical Examiner Dr. James Gill said the status of the case will remain undetermined unless new information comes to light.

Oli’s widow Elizabeth released a bizarrely worded statement earlier this week in which she claimed that the toxicology report showed anti-depressants and a sleep aid in Oli’s system at the time of his death, alleging he had been self-medicating. A public memorial for Oli was announced last week but then canceled only three days later. Meanwhile a Facebook page called Justice for Oli Herbert, the creators of which have been building a case for foul play in his death, has amassed nearly 7,000 followers.
