What the Funk? Ex-Black Dahlia Murder Guitarist Ryan Knight Drops New Neo-Country Solo Track “Chica Funk”
You may know Ryan Knight from his work with The Black Dalia Murder and Arsis. I bet the last thing you expected was for him to start a solo neo-country twang-town project — but here we are. Knight can now be found wearing assless chaps and a 666 gallon Stetson at any given moment, but don’t catch him off guard. You might scare the pony.
The album’s called Sunbelt Bliss, and the first single from the record, “Chica Funk,” is available below for your listening pleasure. Imagine what Buckethead would sound like if he took Red Dead Redemption 2 just a little too seriously — that’s “Chica Funk” in a nutshell. Knight commented on the new project:
“A little over a year ago I tracked an album of 9 tunes with some great musicians/people in Atlanta, Ga. Co-produced with bassist Kevin Scott (Jimmy Herring Band, Wayne Krantz, FORQ), it was an arduous process, and much respect to those out there working on your own endeavors and seeing them through.
“Ultimately, I wanted to write some melodic, catchy tunes that were much different than anything else I’d been involved with in the past. The end result of that is Sunbelt Bliss. Huge thanks to the gentlemen who lended me their talents and support!”
Sunbelt Bliss is out November 16 — pre order here.
