Metal Celebrities React to the Death of Stan Lee
Stan Lee, the iconic writer, editor and publisher of Marvel Comics, has passed away at age 95. As the creator or co-creator of some of the most beloved superhero characters of all time, Lee — born Stanley Lieber — made an impact on popular culture that few artists will ever enjoy. You don’t have to be a nerd to have at least a passing knowledge of characters like Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Black Panther, the Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Daredevil.
But Lee was more than just a brilliant behind-the-scenes guy. He was an outsized personality and a fan favorite, which led to the Hitchcock-esque tradition of giving him a cameo in every Marvel movie.

Given that metal is always theatrical and often fantastical, and the scope of Lee’s reach in general, it’s little wonder that prominent members of the metal community have taken to social media to praise Stan the Man. We’ve collected some of those remembrances below. Lee will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Excelsior!

Stan Lee was a visionary and a pioneer. I owe a lot to him for personally shaping my childhood fantasy worlds, my appreciation for art on all levels, & for teaching me humanness and humility through his wonderfully insightful stories. He will be missed. Long Live FOOM ! pic.twitter.com/coMUHWXGKV

Stan Lee was one of the architects of our childhoods. What he & his band of astounding co-creators did was incalculable. Peter Parker & Spider-Man were THERE for US. If you are a Comic Book Person – the passing of An Age Is Upon Us. It might not be Ragnarok… but it’s CLOSE! https://t.co/b8oZN4LDnI

Hey San Francisco, I’ll be at the Bindery in Haight tonight. Let’s do an individual toast to every character Stan Lee had a hand in creating and get blackout hammered. He will always be “the Man”, we love you, Stan Lee.
