Corey Taylor Thinks™ New Slipknot Masks Will Arrive Summer 2019 (Oh, and a New Album, Too)
It’s no secret that Slipknot are hard at work on their next generation of their masks, which evolve with each album cycle. Now we know when Corey Taylor thinks™ those masks will finally debut. Speaking to Spain’s Resurrection Fest TV, the vocalist said:
“Right now, the plan is for us to be in the studio early next year — like, first couple of months next year. So, a couple of months to get that going, a couple of months to get production, new masks, new outfits, new everything, and hopefully be able to come and start touring in the summer when the album comes out.”
Taylor also revealed that the band currently has twenty songs demoed for the album which will accompany their latest facial wear:
“[The songs] are really, really good. It’ll just come down to which ones come out the best, and we take that, we make the album out of that, put the album out. However, the way we’re talking right now, we’re trying to find ways that everyone can hear all the songs. So we’ll put the album out, and then maybe we’ll release something after that.”
Twenty songs is a lot, but at one point, you may recall, the band (or at least Clown) had been discussing the possibility of making a double album. They could do that and put out all twenty songs at once.
The only real question would be, would a double album allow each member of the band to debut TWO new masks? Because might be too much excitement for this old man to handle.
