Video: Steel Panther Vocalist’s Impersonation of Ozzy’s Live Performances is Incredible
If you’ve seen Ozzy Osbourne perform live on his current No More Tours 2 farewell run then you already know that there’s not a whole lot to see as far as the Ozzman himself is concerned. The show is still worth going to — we had a great time — but Ozzy is just old and shot, man! Out of gas. He hardly moves, he’s hunched over, he resorts to a lot of “Let me hear you!” and “Go fucking crazy!” audience calls, and, frankly speaking, the show really belongs to Zakk Wylde.
Steel Panther vocalist Michael Starr, always the comedian, took to impersonating Ozzy during a recent live cover of “Crazy Train,” and his impressions of Ozzy’s mannerisms are spot on, right down to the bewildered facial expressions. This video has been online since May — no idea why it’s just now making the rounds — but the fact that it was filmed before Ozzy’s current farewell run makes it all the more poignant: Ozzy has been performing this way for years (the last time I saw him, over a decade ago, was no different).
Watch below and have a good chuckle. Then go crank No More Tears from start to finish because any excuse to listen to that record is a worthwhile one.
