Check Out Anaal Nathrakh’s Latest Jam “New Bethlehem/Mass Death Futures”
Anyone keeping tabs on Anaal Nathrakh’s new jams will know that the Birmingham extreme metal outfit has been taking things in a rather… experimental direction. The music is as brutal and horrifying as ever, but it’s getting weird, man. As if they weren’t bizarre enough already.
Their latest, “New Bethlehem/Mass Death Futures,” will definitely make your ears bleed. Whether that’s a good thing or not, well, only you can say. The track is a grotesque mass of the usual Anaal Nathrakh bash ‘n grind with some old-school black metal thrown in for good luck. It’s like Emperor and King Diamond got together and did lots, and lots, and lots of cocaine.
Amped up grinding black metal whatever is great and all, but what really sold the track for me were the vocals. Dave Hunt lays on some serious highs and falsettos, so I suppose one could even add “operatic” to that list of descriptors. All in all, “New Bethlehem/Mass Death Futures” is an absolute clusterfuck. I dig it — maybe you will, maybe you won’t. Stream below and order A New Kind Of Horror here, available this Friday (the 28th) via Metal Blade.
