Lamb of God’s Chris Adler Reveals 2017 Motorcycle Accident

0

Remember how drummer Art Cruz (Prong, Winds of Plague, etc.) filled in for Chris Adler on Lamb of God’s summer tour with Slayer? At the time the band chalked it up to that most bedeviling affliction that’s been keeping musicians off the road since before time itself: “unforeseen circumstances.”

Adler has finally shared an explanation (not that he owed us one), and it’s no wonder the powerhouse drummer wasn’t able to give it his all for Lamb of God’s intense set every night: he was in a motorcycle accident in late 2017, and lingering injuries prevented him from taking up his usual role behind the kit. Adler himself detailed those injuries in a post to Instagram, vowing that he’s on the mend and will be back to playing with the band ASAP:

“Thank you all for the overwhelming amount of well wishes in response to my current absence from the Lamb of God shows. I’m humbled to know how many and how much you care.

“I had a motorcycle accident late last year that shattered my collarbone and right shoulder and also chipped bones in my hip.

“While surgery corrected the broken bones and I was able to play earlier this year, I experienced some issues related to the injuries that needed to be addressed with a rigorous schedule of physical and occupational therapy which, is what I have been doing regularly since July.

“I am making great progress in addition to playing/practicing every day. Playing drums is what I do and refuse to do it poorly. I will be back behind the kit ASAP. Thanks again for the love! See you soon.”

I don’t know about you guys, but I got to “shattered my collarbone” and started to feel queasy in my stomach. I can only imagine the rigor and will power that goes into rehabbing injuries like these, so I’m impressed that Adler has already made it as far along as he has in the recovery process. Feel better soon, dude!
