Suicidal Tendencies Release Light-Hearted New Track “It’s Always Something”
Round two of my efforts to finally give Suicidal Tendencies a chance after all these years of indifference resumes today with “It’s Always Something,” the latest single from their new album STill Cyco Punk After All These Years. I quite liked the first single, “F.U.B.A.R.,” so how does this one stack up?
Welp, I’m sorry to say, this one I’m not feeling as much. It’s got that kinda light-hearted / silly punk rock vibe that’s kind of always been this band’s thing, and that just ain’t for me. Look, I like plenty of silly music — one really cannot be all that serious about vikings and beer and plenty of other dumb crap metal bands sing about — but the punk side of Suicidal’s sound just isn’t really for me. I prefer my metal to be darker sounding. All good if you like it, though, I’m certainly not knocking you! FREEDOM OF SPEECH, MAAAAAAAAN
Update: Metal Injection points out that this song, along with the rest of the album, is a reimagining of the version from Mike Muir’s 1996 solo album Lost My Brain! (Once Again).
Check out “It’s Always Something” below. STill Cyco Punk After All These Years(that’s not a TYpo) will come out on September 7th through the band’s own Suicidal Records.
