John Carpenter Wrote the Score for The New Halloween
The Master of Horror, John Carpenter, will return this fall with the soundtrack to the much-anticipated new installment of the Halloween franchise, making this the first film in the series that he’s been involved with since 1982’s Halloween III. And who better to do it than he? The man single-handedly defined horror soundtracks with his pioneering work, and he continues to do so today with his heavy influence on the entire synthwave genre.
The album will arrive on October 19 from Sacred Bones (pre-order here), the same day as the film’s theatrical release. Daniel Davies and John’s son Cody Carpenter — whose synthwave contributions we’ve covered here before — collaborated with him on the soundtrack.
Check out a brief tease of what the soundtrack has in store below, as well as some upcoming European tour dates. Stoked yet? As much I hate the arrival of fall, I admit I’m pretty excited for this.
