Suicidal Tendencies Go “F.U.B.A.R.” on New Single
Just yesterday, in the context of Suicidal Tendencies’ newly announced album and tour, I was talking about how I never really got into the band despite that the fact that they’re very well-respected veterans. To reiterate: there’s no real reason for that, and I certainly do not dislike them… just never really caught the bug, ya know?
Today sees the release of “F.U.B.A.R.,” the first single from their upcoming album STill Cyco Punk After All These Years (that’s not a TYpo), and I’m delighted to say that I like it quite a bit! Suicidal Tendencies have always specialized in that uplifting-punk-groove-meets-metal thing, and this is a fine example — it’s a damn catchy song. I don’t know if it’s gonna suddenly convert me into a Suicidal Tendencies superfan, but it’s got me interested in checking out more of their new album whereas yesterday I couldn’t have cared less. Which is precisely the reason bands release singles. High fives to everyone in the Suicidal camp!
The moral of the story: always give bands a chance! Even ones you’ve previously never connected with.
STill Cyco Punk After All These Years(that’s not a TYpo) will come out on September 7th through the band’s own Suicidal Records. Upcoming tour dates below, although it’s unclear whether ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman, who filled in on guitar during the band’s last trek, will be joining this time.
