Listen to Aborted’s New Song “TerrorVision” Featuring Septicflesh’s Spiros Antoniou
“I don’t think Axl should be allowed to listen to metal, let alone write about it.”
“Axl, you’re dumb. That is all.”
Those are some of the carefully constructed criticisms that MetalSucks commenters directed at Axl after his lukewarm review of Aborted’s first single, “Squalor Opera,” from their forthcoming album TerrorVision.
Today sees the release of the album’s title track, so it’s time to go in for round two: how do we feel about this one?? Fortunately for the three folks whose comments are included above, Axl is on vacation so you’re left with my way more positive ass.
So, here it is: I like the song. There’s some very nifty riffery happening throughout, and the chorus has a classic Aborted feel that I think Axl would dig. The breakdown section that starts around the two minute mark is STELLAR; this is what I pay admission for! The guitar solo is sick, too, as are the guest vocals from Septicflesh bassist/vocalist Spiros Antoniou. Still, I find myself yearning for a bit less crazy riffery and some more of that sweet groove; I love that Aborted groove, I need it! So, while I dig the track and would definitely like to hear more of TerrorVision, I’m not like totally gaga about it. In other words: jury is still out!
TerrorVision drops September 21 on Century Media. Pre-order it here.
