Revolver Says These Are the 20 Essential Nu-Metal Albums
It’s been four years since Revolver released their list of “10 Nu-Metal Albums You Need to Own,” and besides, the magazine is under new management now. So they’ve freshly published a list of the “20 Essential Nu-Metal Albums.” Of the ten bands that appeared on the earlier list, nine have carried over to this one (sorry, Papa Roach). And of those nine bands, eight have carried over for the same record, too (sorry, Limp Bizkit’s Significant Other). As for the twelve new albums by eleven new artists, the picks range from relative no-brainers (Static-X’s Wisconsin Death Trip, Kittie’s Spit) to controversial (Sepultura’s Roots, which some people incorrectly argue isn’t a nu-metal album at all) to bizarre (Chimaira’s The Impossibility of Reason, which actually ISN’T a nu-metal album at all) to straight-up embarrassing (We’re seriously supposed to pretend that Orgy once made something of value?). Here it is, if you’re curious (courtesy of The PRP):
20. Mushroomhead – XIII
19. Chimaira – The Impossibility of Reason
18. P.O.D. – Satellite
17. System of a Down – Toxicity
16. Linkin Park – Hybrid Theory
15. Glassjaw – Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence
14. Mudvayne – L.D. 50
13. Kittie – Spit
12. Static-X – Wisconsin Death Trip
11. Slipknot – Slipknot
10. Spineshank – Strictly Diesel
09. Soulfly – Soulfly
08. Fear Factory – Obsolete
07. Orgy – Candyass
06. Incubus – S.C.I.E.N.C.E.
05. Limp Bizkit – Three Dollar Bill, Y’all$
04. Sevendust – Sevendust
03. Deftones – Around the Fur
02. Sepultura – Roots
01. Korn – Korn
