Dee Snider / Jamey Jasta Collab Releases New Song “I Am the Hurricane”

So far so good on Dee Snider’s new solo album, the Jamey Jasta-produced For the Love of Metal, right? As my lifelong pal Axl Rosenberg noted when the first single came out, I’m not sure whether Dee’s gonna expand his fanbase to include swaths of young fans with this effort, but it sure it super-pleasing to olds like us. I don’t even think “get those young kids!” was the point of this project anyway; more than anything it strikes me as something Dee and Jamey wanted to do together for fun, and that definitely comes across in the music.

Today we get a new single called “I Am the Hurricane,” more of a hard rock number than anything we’ve heard so far. Compared to the thrashy “Tomorrow’s No Concern” and the melodeath/power metal approach of “Become the Storm” I think it’s my least favorite of the bunch, but I still dig it plenty. I love hearing Dee’s voice in this context, and I’d take hearing it on the radio over Breaking Benjasuck any day.

For the Love of Metal drops July 27 on Napalm, and it features guest appearances from Howard Jones (Light the Torch, ex-Killswitch Engage), Mark Morton (Lamb of God), Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), Joel Grind and Nick Bellmore (Toxic Holocaust), and Charlie Bellmore (Kingdom of Sorrow). Pre-order it here.
