Deftones Have Their Own Festival Now

Sactown’s Deftones are the latest metal band to try their hand at having a festival of their very own, following in the footsteps of such artists as Metallica, Slipknot, Clutch, and, of course, Ozzy Osbourne. It’s called Dia de los Deftones, and the line-up is… interesting:

• Deftones
• Future
• Mike Shinoda
• Rocket from the Crypt
• Ho99o9
• Doja Cat
• Vein
• Vowws

So that’s a pretty diverse mix of rock, hip-hop, and pop. James Hetfield has said that Metallica’s Orion Fest was “a disaster financially,” and I’ve long wondered if it wouldn’t have done better if it had been strictly metal-oriented. Having said that, this is obviously a smaller event than Orion was. In any case, it’ll be interesting to see how it does.

Dia de los Deftones will take place Saturday, November 3 at Petco Park at the Park in San Diego.
