Secret Cutter’s New Quantum Eraser is the Tits!!!
Sludge/grind outfit Secret Cutter are highly regarded as one of the nastiest, most bludgeoning bands in the metal underground. Last Friday (July 6), they released their long-awaited new album, Quantum Eraser, an offering that sustains Holy Roar’s ongoing winning streak and is a very solid contender for one the best releases of 2018.
I cannot fucking get enough of this record. Seems like only yesterday that I was totally blown away (and maybe a bit frightened) by my first exposure to Secret Cutter, “Trampled by Light,” and ever since, I’d been having wet dreams about what the rest of the album could have in store. I’m thrilled to disclose that not only has Quantum Eraser completely shattered my skull, it’s also surpassed my expectations in every way possible, exploring everything from droning doom & gloom to fierce bursts of grindcore, with plenty of experimental fuckery to fill in the blanks.
Quantum Eraser is shorter than my feeble attention span — at less than thirty minutes long, it’s a compact but intense listen that you can squeeze in on your commute to your miserable job or in between re-runs of Seinfeld. However, after several listens, I’ve concluded that this record is best paired with a healthy serving of the devil’s lettuce, as are most of the finer things in life. With that in mind, listen to the full stream of Quantum Eraser below and purchase it on Bandcamp.
