Unearth’s New Song Will “Incinerate” You

Unearth, the band some scholars have called “the Slayer of metalcore,” have announced that their next album will be called Extinction(s), and will be released sometime in the fall via Century Media. While we await more details, they’ve also debuted the first single from that album, “Incinerate.”

I’ll be honest: I really like Unearth, and this song doesn’t do much for me. I dig the middle section with all the sweet guitar shreddery, but the rest of it has an early-deathcore feel that actually sounds to me more like some band that wants be Unearth than Unearth. Which I know is unfair to Unearth; it’s not their fault other bands did a lousy job imitating their sound. But dem’s da breaks. Hopefully there are gems elsewhere on the record.
