Oh Boy Oh Boy New Music From Nonpoint!

Is there a void in your life that can only be filled by your deepest darkest guilty pleasure, nu-metal? It’s okay, you can admit it. Luckily for you, Nonpoint have just dropped two brand new songs, and they’re as cheesy as you could ever ask for.

Nonpoint’s music has a tendency to cycle between “I almost want to like this” and “wtf is this shit?”, and these new tracks are no exception. The first, titled “Chaos and Earthquakes,” is groovy enough for me to pay attention for a few seconds, only to be nullified by the generic AF vocals. The other, “Dode Your Destiny,” is along the same lines: overall wholesome riffage that’s listenable, occasionally entertaining, but nothing special. Spin it the gym when you don’t want bros hating on your Napalm Death.

Verdict: these new songs are not terrible. While I won’t be going out of my way to listen to it again, Nonpoint’s new music is fine and caters to the folks who are into this stuff. Of course, there are plenty of moments that are shamelessly cringe-inducing, but that’s part the beauty of nu-metal, right?
