Reaction Video: Smashing Pumpkins’ “Solara”

We’re back with another new episode of Metal Reacts Only, the weekly show in which host Jon Weigell listens to a brand new metal track for the first time and shares his thoughts and reactions.

This week, Jon tackles the new Smashing Pumpkins song “Solara,” which is the first to feature original guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain in 18 years (but notably not bassist D’Arcy Wretzky). How does it compare to the Pumpkins output of yore? How do we feel about the return of two original members?

Billy Corgan has hinted that the band plans to release two four-song EPs instead of a proper album, and “Solara” will presumably appear on one of those.
