The Night Flight Orchestra’s “Lovers in the Rain” Gets a Comic Book-Style Animated Music Video
With all the cheerleading surrounding Ghost’s parallel move into ’70s and ’80s arena rock / AOR on their latest album, I sure hope that The Night Flight Orchestra — who are about to release their fourth album of the same — are able to capitalize on the renewed interest in the genre. Thankfully the NFO train has been slowly picking up steam, especially after last year’s absolutely stupendous Amber Galactic, but it’d be extra super to see that train sprout wings and take off into the stratosphere this time, ya know?
So: following the single “This Time,” The Night Flight Orchestra have unveiled a music video for “Lovers in the Rain,” the next single from their forthcoming album Sometimes the World Ain’t Enough. This isn’t one of my favorite tracks on the record, but that’s like saying the one piece of sushi still left on your plate is your least favorite — they’re still all fucking great, it’s just that one inevitably had to be last. The video is a comic book-style animated clip mixed with a lyric video, created by Elia Cristofoli of Solingo who also made the video for last year’s song of the year “Gemini,” and it adds an extra wispy sense of nostalgia that’s crucial to the whole NFO experience. Check it out below.
Sometimes the World Ain’t Enough will arrive June 29th via Nuclear Blast; pre-order here.
