Gruesome’s Twisted Prayers is a Resurrection of That Which Death Left Undone
When it comes to preserving the sacred art of old-school death metal, Gruesome are the champions of nostalgia. Their tribute to Death’s Spiritual Healing is so evocative that somebody, somewhere should probably take offense… but it’s not gonna be us. Twisted Prayers takes the relics of the old and gives them new life — eight tracks of heresy that, when played backwards, will actually summon Chuck Schuldiner from the grave (so I’ve heard).
The fact that Grueome can so accurately reproduce the character of Death’s sonic shift is a testament to their sheer talent, and as if it wasn’t good enough already, Death guitarist James Murphy also has two slots on the record. That’s about as Death as you can get without Schuldiner, so check out Twisted Prayers right now.
